Save your scalp from sunburning!
I am by no means a hat-chick. I look ridiculous in a hat, feel uncomfortable in a hat and other than walking knee high in dead winter snow, will not wear a hat. However I am also not a fan of sunburns. As a huge outdoor guru of everything that is of the beach, mountain and state park groupie, I’ve found a leave-in conditioning combo that both helps pertect my scalp from the dreaded heat effect and as an added bonus, hydrates and smooths my hair from the frizzies.
Before hitting the waves, simply mix the following in a 5-oz spray bottle (think, the cheap-o 99 cent travel sized bottles at the drugstore): 4-oz cool water (mineral, spring, tap, whatever you roll with), 1-tbsp your fav conditioner (I like Daisy Fuentes’ “smooth & straight”) and 1.5 tbsp suncreen of your choice. I personally recommend a sheer, non-greasy formula such as Hawaiian Tropic’s “SPF/UVB Sheer Touch Sunscreen” which has an utterly delicious scent, comes in 15, 30 & 50, plus dries and applies like regular lotion. Shake before applying and spritz from scalp to hair tips before unrolling your beach towels. Use throughout the day as needed.
In addition to helping protect your noggin, I’ve also found this totally helps my thick, wavy hair from turning into a frizzball after going for a dip. Spritz away!
